PRESENT, A POEM IN THE LITERARY STYLE OF CARLOS DRUMMOND DE ANDRADE

Present

(Christmas Eve)

In the present of time,

where yesterday and tomorrow dance,

I unwrap the essence of hours.

The tree, adorned with hope,

embraces not just paper-wrapped packages,

but the promise of being together,

the greatest of presents.

Packages decorated

with the invisible ties of affection.

We are more than mere recipients

of packages tied with colorful threads.

We are the gift of simply being.

Between the present paper and the present of being,

lies the essence.

And so, I undo the knots of time,

unwrapping the present,

living the present,

being the present.

With every heartbeat,

in the gentle melody of laughter,

we celebrate being here, together,

in the present that is a present.

* In an exercise that blends AI and the human mind, this poem aims to recreate the literary style of the renowned Brazilian poet Carlos Drummond de Andrade. We draw upon Drummond de Andrade's grandeur to celebrate the present and the meaningful presents. In this play of words, lies the essence of this season.
